Murray claims British crown

Boxing: Murray claims British crown
Martin Murray claimed the vacant British middleweight title with a dominant five-round win over Nick Blackwell in Wigan.
Murray, who already held the WBA Intercontinental and Commonwealth belts at the weight, improved his unbeaten record to 23-0.
Blackwell, who was also undefeated in eight fights prior to the bout, was completely overwhelmed by his older and more experienced opponent.
The 20-year-old made a bright start but Murray soon took control of matters and the blows soon began to take a toll on Blackwell.
In the fourth round, Blackwell was firmly on the retreat and looked a beaten fighter at the end of the three minutes, but he showed admirable spirit to rise from his corner for the fifth.
Murray did not let up, however, and Blackwell's corner eventually decided to pull him out before the sixth round after the fighter complained of breathing difficulties.
"I felt in control, I knew we'd get at him over the 12 rounds," Murray told Sky Sports after the fight.
"To be honest - no disrespect to him - I thought it was going to be a bit sooner but I didn't feel 100 per cent today.
"But as the rounds when on we knew he was tiring. (Trainer) Oliver (Harrison) said six rounds and that's the way it worked out.
"We're happy that we've got these belts now and hopefully we can move on."
Of his opponent's inexperience, he added: "Personally, no (I don't think he was ready for a title fight). But that chance was given to him and he's taken it with both hands, so you've got to respect him for that."
