Mavericks beat Heat to tie series
Dirk Nowitzki was the hero for the Dallas Mavericks as his side beat the Miami Heat 86-83 to tie the NBA finals at two games apiece.
What was amazing about the the German's performance was the fact that he was battling the flu.He did not have a good start to the game, but shook off a poor first three quarters to score 10 of his 21 points in the final period to help the Mavericks outscore the Heat 21-9 in the crucial last ten minutes.
"We just played with incredible heart and passion", said Dallas centre Tyson Chandler to NBA.com.
The Heat will be disappointed with the loss, especially with Dwyane Wade scoring 32 points, and Chris Bosh with 24, but what was crucial in their defeat was the fact that star LeBron James simply couldn't get his game going, hitting only three out of 11 shots and scoring just a paltry eight points.
This game marked yet another night of heroics for Nowitzki, who won Game 2 for his team despite suffering a tendon in the tip of his middle finger.
Another difference between the two sides was the contribution from their respective benches.
Dallas's Jason Terry, Shawn Marion and Chandler chipped in with 46 points, while Miami's Mario Chalmers, Joel Anthony and MIller only scored 15.
