MLB: Dodgers in romp over Twins
The Los Angeles Dodgers shrugged off their off-field problems with a crushing 15-0 victory over the slumping Minnesota Twins.
The cash-strapped Dodgers filed for bankruptcy protection just hours before putting the Twins to the sword with their biggest win of the season.
Chad Billingsley led the Dodgers' seventh shutout of the season, while Casey Blake, Matt Kemp and Trent Oeltjen contributed home runs in a 25-hit display - the best of any MLB franchise this season.
"It's just one of those days," said Dodgers manager Don Mattingly.
"Everything went right from the beginning and kept going tonight [Monday]."
The defeat for Minnesota was their sixth in succession.
Jonny Gomes hit a home run against his former employers as the Cincinnati Reds eased to a 5-0 win over the Tampa Bay Rays.
Reds starter Mike Leake registered six scoreless innings and three strike-outs.
Carlos Pena and Aramis Ramirez both hit a brace of home runs as the Chicago Cubs defeated the Colorado Rockies 7-4, while Jhonny Peralta's eighth-inning triple lifted the Detroit Tigers to a 4-2 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays.
Ryan Ludwick's two-run home home run made the difference as the San Diego Padres defeated the Kansas City Royals 4-3, while Freddie Freeman also hit a two-run homer to snap a tie in the seventh inning as the Atlanta Braves downed the Seattle Mariners 3-1.
Orlando Cabrera hit a ninth-inning, two-out home run as the Cleveland Indians snatched a last-gasp 5-4 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks, while Maicer Izturis' bases-loaded single in the 10th inning saw the Los Angeles Angels beat the Washington Nationals 4-3.
