Red Bull out to extend Renault deal

Red Bull out to extend Renault deal
Red Bull have insisted they are keen to continue their partnership with Renault despite reports that they may manufacture their own engines.
The French manufacturer helped Red Bull to the Constructors' and Drivers' titles last year, with the Milton Keynes-based outfit hopeful of tying up a new deal.
Renault has supplied Red Bull, who have previously been powered by Ferrari and Cosworth, with engines since 2007.
And Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz told Autosport: "We always tried to be associated with a big manufacturer. Renault will remain our first approach for a deal for 2013 and beyond.
"Talking with Renault about 2013 and further on had progressed very well, as we expected to run the 1.6-litre four cylinder turbo.
"An extension of our contract was close until the new situation came up. Concerning the V6 turbo from 2014 we have received positive signals from Renault, but we have to discuss the details of the new situation," he added.
There have been suggestions that the team were looking to build their own engines, with Austrian company AVL List mooted as a potential partner.
However, Mateschitz insists that this would not be a first-choice scenario.
"I would consider AVL capable of building a F1 engine, however only with a couple of re-enforcements in several areas," said Mateschitz.
The 67-year-old added that they would manufacture their own engines "only in extreme conditions with no manufacturer available for us".
