Badminton: US despair for England

Commonwealth silver medallists Nathan Robertson and Jenny Wallwork have followed Rajiv Ouseph in making early exits in the US Open.

Ouseph, the defending champion, lost in in Orange County on Tuesday, with the mixed doubles pair of Robertson and Wallwork slumping to a 21-17 21-18 loss to Japanese duo Shoji Sato and Shizuka Matsuo.
There were further disappointments for England as China's Zihan Qiu and Bao Yixin overcame Marcus Ellis and Heather Olver 21-17 21-19 in the mixed doubles, while American seventh seeds Howard Bach and Tony Gunawan saw off Anthony Clark and Chris Langridge 22-20 21-13 in the men's doubles second round.
