Batista: Things are not going to plan
Argentina coach Sergio Batista admits "things are not going to plan" for his side after they slumped to a second successive Copa America draw.
Host nation Argentina remain without a win in Group A following a goalless draw against Colombia on Wednesday evening local time. The Argentineans had previously drawn their opener 1-1 with Bolivia to now leave them with two points from two matches from the group."The things are not going the way they were in the friendly matches," Batista told the competition's official website.
"No one expected this kind of game, nothing came out the way we expected," he said following the 0-0 draw with Colombia.
Batista remains a man under pressure ahead of Monday's final game against Costa Rica. A victory would see Batista's side progress with five points from three games while anything less could spell an early and embarrassing exit for one of the tournament's hot favourites.
However, Batista was still attempting to keep calm despite his team's latest setback and maintains he will not make any "major changes" to the team that drew with Colombia for the final game against against the Costa Ricans next week.
"I remain confident about these players, they are are very good.
"We do not require major change, we will play with two defensive midfielders and maybe one more winger.
"We have a game against Costa Rica, and we can have five points to qualify. We need to keep calm, think it is a final and come out with this mentality."
When quizzed about the poor performance of 2010 FIFA Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi, the coach explained that "he has no space because opponents know how to play and close in the defense".
Colombia will face Bolivia in the Group A's dramatic final round of fixtures.
