Boxing: "Haye musn't be careful"
Top trainer Freddie Roach says if David Haye is "careful" he'll lose to Wladimir Klitschko in Hamburg on Saturday night.
Roach, who currently looks after Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan among others, has trained a host of top fighters down the years. And his glittering cv includes a spell in Wladimir's corner. And while he does give underdog Haye a chance to upset Klitschko in their massive heavyweight title unification showdown, he says the Briton's gameplan will be absolutely key.
He told Boxing News: "I think David has to be aggressive. If he goes after him and uses his punching power he has a good shot at winning the fight and he will have the advantage."
Roach of course knows pretty much all there is to know about Wladimir, and describes the Ukrainian as "the best-conditioned heavyweight I've ever trained."
He doesn't see Klitschko's tendency to gradually box his opponents into submission and take them out late as a black mark, but says if Haye tries to employ a similar gameplan it will end in failure.
"I like David when he's explosive. His last couple of fights he hasn't been and if he's careful against Klitschko he will get beaten."
