Contador to face hostile Tour reception
Defending champion Alberto Contador is likely to have to contend with further audible contempt from spectators in the Tour de France.
Contador is also likely to face additional inquisition of the media after branding the possibility he could be stripped of the 2010 title as "ridiculous".The 28-year-old favourite for the Tour, which begins Saturday in the Vendee region of western France, on Thursday addressed the media and was confronted on the subject of his as-yet-unresolved positive doping test from last year's race.
The crowd in the gladiatorial-style arena at the Puy du Fou theme park then jeered Contador when he was introduced at the official teams' presentation.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport will sit on Contador's case in early August and there has been widespread frustration a resolution was not found before cycling's showpiece event.
The 2007, 2009 and 2010 champion was unrepentant, though, saying: "It's ridiculous that I could lose the Tour. But I don't think that's going to happen because I'm fully confident in my lawyers and the outcome of my case.
"The idea that I could lose the Tour seems ridiculous.
"Since the beginning of last season no-one has been tested more than me and, let's be clear, no-one will be tested more than me during this race.
"I'm 100% against doping, but everybody can believe what they want to."
