PCB will get back to ICC in ten days

The PCB has said that it will send its observations on the recommendations and suggestions made by the ICC Task Force on Pakistan cricket within 10 days' time.
"We are observing each and every recommendation to microscopic detail and we will write a detailed response with our observations to the ICC in ten days' time," PCB Chief Operating Officer, Subhan Ahmed, told reporters at the PCB headquarters.

A senior official of the Board, however, made it clear that the recommendations of the ICC Task Force were not mandatory or compulsory to implement.

"These are recommendations and not obligatory directives.

"They are not meant to be mandatory. These recommendations are just an observation by the task team.

"It is assumed that by adopting them, the system will improve but it is completely up to the Board to comprehend what actually is feasible to adopt and what is not," the official said.

The PCB officials apparently are unhappy with some of the recommendations and suggestions made by the task force, particularly on selection matters and central contracts.

"What is also disappointing is that the task force has given no roadmap for the revival of international cricket in Pakistan," another Board official said.

Interestingly, many of the task team recommendations and suggestions focus on internal matters of the Board.

A member of the PCB governing council said that it was strange that the task team had not visited Pakistan even once to see things first hand while compiling the report.

"Making recommendations or suggestions regarding the quality of cricket balls we use in our domestic circuit or during our selection process are issues that should not be of concern to the task force. These are purely internal matters of the PCB," former Test captain Javed Miandad said.
