Tipsarevic happy with contribution

Tipsarevic happy with contribution
Janko Tipsarevic was happy to have played a part as defending Davis Cup champions Serbia progressed smoothly into the semi-finals on Sunday.
The Serbians were 2-1 up on Sweden overnight and Tipsarevic gained the decisive third point by winning the fourth rubber against Michael Ryderstedt 6-2 7-5 6-3.
The impressive win backed up Tipsarevic's defeat of Ervin Eleskovic on Friday after his opponent had to retire with a torn anterior cruciate ligament at the start of the second set.
Serbia could even afford to leave out Wimbledon champion and new world number one Novak Djokovic for the singles due to a slight knee injury - he played and lost the doubles rubber on Saturday - and Tipsarevic was pleased the visitors had advanced with relative ease.
He told www.daviscup.com: "It feels really great. I know that Serbia was a huge favourite to win with Robin Soderling not here and Novak coming, but I'm happy to have helped my country once again get through to the semi-finals."
Ryderstedt, who made his Davis Cup debut in Friday's four-set defeat to Viktor Troicki, battled hard but was simply outclassed by the world number 29.
The Swede said: "It was a very tough weekend for me playing two players much higher ranked.
"I fought hard, I did my best and I can learn a lot from this weekend. It gave me confidence and it gave me a lot of motivation to start working harder because I want to compete with these guys all the time."
Serbia will now play Argentina in a home semi-final in September and Tipsarevic feels the presence of David Nalbandian could be key to the outcome.
He said: "If David Nalbandian comes in really good shape then I feel it's going to be really, really tricky.
"Whichever surface we choose I think it's going to be a really tough match."
Argentina completed a 5-0 whitewash of Kazakhstan on Saturday.
Germany and France split the reverse singles with the visitors having already secured a place in the last four after winning the doubles to move 3-0 ahead.
Philipp Petzschner restored some German pride with a 6-3 6-4 win over Michael Llodra but Jo-Wilfried Tsonga ensured France had the final say by beating Philipp Kohlschreiber 7-6 (7/3) 7-6 (7/5).
