Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney hailed the
performance displayed by the Red Devils' attack against Hannover and
feels the team is ready for the new season.
United
ran out winners by the barest of margins as they won 4-3 against
Hannover on Saturday night. Goals were scored by Rooney, Javier
Hernandez and Shinji Kagawa with the Japanese scoring the deciding goal
towards the end of the match.Rooney felt as if the pre-season matches have helped the attacking players establish a good understanding of each other's style of play. He is confident that the team has fine-tuned its tactics through the various matches they were involved in and will perform much better for the new season.
"It was end to end at times," Rooney told MUTV after the game. "We probably were a bit sloppy and could've done better defending, but I thought some of the play throughout the game was great, some great link-up play between us.
"Thankfully tonight [Saturday] we've got the four goals, which we've maybe been lacking in pre-season and it's great to get them in this game with the season coming up.
"[Pre-season] has been a bit stop-start with the international players coming back a bit later, but I think tonight you've seen the players are looking better every game, fitter every game.
"Hopefully by next Monday against Everton we'll all be ready. Obviously it will be a difficult game."
Rooney hailed Kagawa's performance as well and believes that the 23-year-old's ability with the ball at his feet will be an asset for the new season.
"It was great," said Rooney of Kagawa's performance.
"Obviously he's a very clever player and with the likes of myself, Chicharito, Tom (Cleverley), there are players there who are capable of getting on the ball and linking the play and it worked for us tonight."
Rooney scored a brace through a free-kick and a penalty in what were his first goals of the pre-season campaign.
