Women's Basketball: USA rout Canada

The United States remain on track for a record fifth straight Olympic gold medal in women's basketball after routing Canada 91 - 48 in the quarter-finals.

The Americans recorded their 39th straight Olympic win in emphatic style against their overmatched North American neighbours.
Diana Taurasi scored 15 points for the United States while Candace Parker and Sylvia Fowles had 12 each, Parker adding seven rebounds.
Maya Moore and Angel McCoughtry also reached double figures with 11 points.
In their six games so far in London, the Americans have won by an average of 42.6 points per game, and McCoughtry believes they are capable of setting new standards even as they build on the legacies and active winning streaks of stories teams before them.
"Our team is special," McCoughtry said. "It is all about the chemistry. It's a group of stars that work together for the team. It's like the Barcelona 1992 Dream Team for women."
Australia's Lauren Jackson broke the all-time Olympic scoring record as the Opals beat China 75 - 60 to reach the semi-finals of the London Olympics.
Jackson, playing in her fourth Games, finished with 12 points, and her final lay-up in the fourth quarter was enough to edge her ahead of Janeth Arcain with 536 points in Olympic competition.
The Opals had surrendered a first-quarter lead to be trailing at half-time and throughout most of the third quarter.
They finally got back in front with a little under two minutes remaining in the third with a 6-0 run that made it 55-50 on a lay-up from Liz Cambage, who led all scorers with 17 points.
Australia then outscored China 20-8 in the final period to make the final score look a little easier than it was.

The American league's hottest side, who had 12 wins from 13 going into the match, went down 4-2, with all the scoring done in the first three innings.
Corey Hart and Richie Weeks homered early and Randy Wolf pitched seven tidy frames.
American League Central pace-setters Cleveland Indians defeated Pittsburgh Pirates 5-1, with five driven runs and Carlos Carrasco's 6 1/3 innings of one-run ball enough for the win.
Texas Rangers picked up win number 38 as Adrian Beltre notched a 10th-inning RBI to see off Atlanta Braves 5-4, converting an 11-4 hit count into a deserved win.
Oakland Athletics defeated San Francisco Giants 4-2, Houston Astros routed Los Angeles Dodgers 7-0 and Colorado Rockies squeezed a 5-4 win over Detroit Tigers.
National League East high-fliers Philadelphia Phillies cantered to a 5-1 victory over Seattle Mariners, Shane Victorino leading the offense with three hits and four RBIs.
New York Yankees beat Chicago Cubs 4-3 in a match that saw Russell Martin and Carlos Pena involved in a mighty collision as the Yankees effected a double play on Brett Gardner's throw.
Washington Nationals registered an eighth successive victory with a 4-2 win over Baltimore Orioles, Florida Marlins lost their ninth in a row 7-4 to Tampa Bay Rays and Mike Pelfrey hurled a complete game as New York Mets despatched Los Angeles Angels 6-1.
Danny Valencia's home run in the bottom of the second was enough to seal a 1-0 win for Minnesota Twins over San Diego Padre in a match dominated by the skilful pitching of Tim Stauffer and Scott Baker, who was scoreless from eight innings.
