England vs Sri Lanka, 1st ODI: LIVE

England vs Sri Lanka, 1st ODI: LIVE
England posted a challenging total of 229 for eight in the rain-affected first one-day international against Sri Lanka at the Oval.

Alastair Cook, recalled after a 15-month absence to captain the side, failed to answer critics of his limited-overs batting when he fell for five, but there were impressive knocks from Craig Kieswetter (61) and Eoin Morgan (45).
The match was reduced to 32 overs a side after a three-hour rain delay, with the tourists needing 232 after a Duckworth/Lewis calculation.
England showed five changes from the side that was routed by nine wickets in Saturday's Twenty20 match at Bristol, with Ian Bell, James Anderson, Jonathan Trott and the fit-again Tim Bresnan returning to the side.
Samit Patel was among those to make way, his international comeback stalled after one less-than-impressive showing.
Sri Lanka, meanwhile, were buoyed by the return of captain Tillakaratne Dilshan, who was fit after breaking his thumb.
Cook got off the mark with a single from the first ball of the match and proceeded to send his second through the onside for four. That was as good as it got for the left-hander, who feathered a leg-side delivery from Lasith Malinga to Kumar Sangakkara behind the stumps.
At the other end Kieswetter started slowly, playing out a maiden off Nuwan Kulasekara and seeing a leading edge fall just short of the ring fielders.
Trott, on the other hand, had little problem finding his feet. His first three scoring shots were boundaries, with two in three balls off Malinga.
Kieswetter found the ropes for the first time off his 20th ball, drilling Kulasekara through the covers with perfect timing.
At 35 for one and with seven overs bowled heavy rain struck, with a thunderstorm saturating the outfield.
The resulting delay lasted three hours, before the sides returned to the field with 18 overs lost from each innings.
Kieswetter and Trott resumed on 13 and 14 respectively and both started well.
Trott worked Kulasekara for four in the first over back and Kieswetter responded by pounding Suranga Lakmal for six down the ground.
Trott picked up another boundary off Lakmal before being pinned leg before by a fuller ball for 23.
Kevin Pietersen announced his arrival with four past short third man but added just one more before Dilshan's direct hit was millimetres from running him out.
There were 15 runs from the 15th over, Suraj Randiv's first, with a steepling six from Kieswetter bringing up his 50 and England's 100.
Pietersen looked in good touch but departed for 26 after finding Dilshan at midwicket from Jeevan Mendis' loosener.
Morgan almost followed for a duck three balls later but Angelo Mathews could not cling on at deep midwicket. The Irishman was soon scoring fluently, with successive boundaries off Mendis taking him quickly past 20.
Kieswetter skied Randiv to Lakmal to fall for 61 off 56 balls but Morgan pressed on, scoring back-to-back fours again as the spinner strayed.
He reached 45, with six fours in 35 balls, before Thilina Kandamby held him at long-on to give Lakmal a first success.
In his 445th, and last, ODI, Sanath Jayasuriya accounted for Bell (12), for his final one-day wicket. Mohammad Azharuddin, in 1990, was the first.
Bresnan (23) helped give the innings a late shot in the arm with three fours in as many balls off Lakmal, whose final over cost 20.
In total there were 44 runs from the last four overs, as well as the wickets of Bresnan and Broad to Malinga.
