ICC delays President decision

ICC delays President decision
The International Cricket Council will wait until October to decide on whether to change its presidential nomination process.
The governing body's Executive Board discussed the matter on the final day of its meeting at the annual conference in Hong Kong on Wednesday, however, decided not to take it to a Full Council vote on Thursday.
At present the ICC president is nominated on a rotational basis, with Pakistan and Bangladesh's Cricket Boards due to elect a candidate for 2014.
After today's deferral the ICC has told both boards not to nominate a candidate at least until after the Executive Board's next meeting in October, when a review of the process will be considered.
The Executive Board also revealed following its meeting that the PCB had requested to host an ICC event in 2018.
Pakistan are currently unable to host home series or ICC events due to security fears in the country after a Sri Lanka team bus was ambushed by gun men in March 2009.
The country was subsequently stripped of its co-hosting rights for this year's ICC cricket World Cup and while ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat welcomed the PCB's request, he revealed the matter was not discussed and that he could give "no assurances" about an ICC event returning to the country by 2018.
"We fully understand the PCB request and we will consider if it is possible to host an event in Pakistan subject to the standard safety and security clearances," he said.
