Ganguly predicts tough English test

Sourav Ganguly warned the world champions to tackle a potent England pace attack to emerge victorious in the Test series.

"We toured England in 2007 and won the series. I was an important member and we were the only side which beat England other than Australia in last 20 years," said Ganguly in the ongoing ICC annual conference.

"It will be hard to beat England, in England. Their bowling attack looks alright with Broad, Tremlett and Anderson. It's going to be a tough series," he said about the England tour which will have four Tests, five ODIs and two T20 Internationals.

India are looking to wrap up their second straight Test series victory over West Indies and create history by becoming the first Indian side to win a Test and ODI series in the Caribbean.

But 39-year-old Ganguly, India's most successful captain and batting great, said next month's England tour would be an altogether different ball game.

"India is dominating the West Indies but... we know they are not the best team in the world and India is the number one Test team in the world," he said.

"India has beaten England in recent past in a Test series but that doesn't guarantee a win this time. England are doing well. It's going to be a series between two top teams and both have to be at their best if they want to win," he said.

Ganguly said despite the hype around Twenty20 cricket such as the cash-rich Indian Premier League, Test cricket will remain the pinnacle of the game.

"Test cricket is the best form of cricket. Watch the series when India goes to England. It's going to be full houses at every venue. India goes to Australia in the winter and that's going to be full houses. Test cricket will remain the most important form of cricket."
