Man United, City clash over Nasri

Man United, City clash over Nasri
Manchester United and Manchester City are set to clash in their bids to sign Arsenal's Samir Nasri.
According to reports in the Sun, the wily Scot believes that he can put one over old rival Arsene Wenger and snap up the midfield maestro, despite the best efforts of the Arsenal maanger.
Ferguson, who has already spent over £50 million this summer, has been given permission from the Old Trafford hierarchy to make a £20 million bid for Nasri.
The midfielder has been disheartened at the lack of silverware at the Emirates, and has refused to put pen to paper on a contract extension, a situation that has vexed Arsenal, given that he has only one year to go on his current deal.
The 24-year-old's situation has raised the interest of both Manchester clubs, with reports indicating that City are now looking at adding the Frenchman to their arsenal after a failed bid for Udinese's Alex Sanchez.
City manager Roberto Mancini conceded defeat in their chase for Sanchez, saying: "I talked to Alexis but he wants to move to Barcelona.
"We have thus decided to withdraw from the negotiations to buy the player, although we have made some serious offers for him."
The Citizens had made a £35 million bid for the 22-year-old, and this failure has led them to contemplate fighting United for Nasri instead.
Reports in talkSport also indicate that Nasri's representatives have already spoken Manchester City's representatives about a possible transfer.
The fact is that both City and United will be aware that signing Nasri will give their squads a boost, as well as weaken Arsenal's, and with the relatively low price tag on the player now, given his contract deadlock, the situation certainly does not favour the Gunners, who worry the Frenchman will run his contract down and leave on a free as midfielder Mathieu Flamini did three years ago.
