Barca make first offer for Fabregas

Barca make first offer for Fabregas
Reports emanating from England suggest that Spanish and European champions Barcelona have tabled their first offer for Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas.
Fabregas has long been high on Barca's shopping list, especially since they regard him as one of their own from his time at the club's famed La Masia academy.
The 24-year-old left the club to join Arsenal in 2003 when he felt that he would get better first-team opportunities elsewhere, an initially risky move that he has since justified by becoming one of the world's best midfielders, as well as a talisman of Arsenal.
However, Fabregas has become increasingly discontent with life at the Emirates Stadium of late, especially in in light of the club's failure to land a piece of silverware for the last six years.
Furthermore, the Spanish international's desire to eventually return to Barca is one of the worst-kept secrets in world football.
Having failed in their bid to land Fabregas last summer, Barca are heavily tipped to make another attempt in the current transfer window, but initially seemed unwilling to pay over the odds for the midfielder's signature.
Barca president Sandro Rosell even went as far as suggesting that Fabregas was now worth less than the €40million they offered last summer, and that his club would not be held to ransom.
However, according to The Sun, the lure of landing one of the best players in the world has proved far too great to the Catalan outfit, and they have reportedly tabled a first offer to Arsenal, suggested to be in the region of £27m.
The paper further claims that the offer was immediately rejected, but that Barca are ready to up their bid to £35m, a fee that could seriously test the resolve of Arsenal's bigwigs.
With Fabregas unwilling to assertively commit his future to the Gunners, the time may have come for the Arsenal fans to say goodbye to their talisman.
