MLB: Bautista helps Blue Jays to win
Jose Bautista's 27th home run of the MLB season helped the Toronto Blue Jays to a 7-4 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday.
Bautista, who leads the league in homers this season, was one of three Toronto players to clear the wall in a four-run eighth inning as the Blue Jays avoided a three-game sweep.
Jason Bay's bases-loaded single in the 10th inning lifted the New York Mets to a 3-2 win over the Yankees, snapping their city rivals' winning streak at seven.
The Mets had been staring defeat in the face when trailing 2-1 with two outs in the ninth, but forced the extra inning on Ronny Paulino's single before going on to complete the fightback.
Russell Branyan hit a tie-breaking two-run homer in the seventh inning to guide the Los Angeles Angels to a 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers, while Melky Cabrera hit two home runs to help the Kansas City Royals to a 21-hit 16-8 win over the Colorado Rockies.
Logan Morrison's tie-breaking two-run double in the eighth handed the Florida Marlins a 6-4 win over the Texas Rangers, while Conor Jackson and Scott Sizemore each enjoyed two-run homers as the Oakland Athletics downed the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-2.
Brandon Inge's eighth-inning, two-run triple set the seal on the Detroit Tigers' 6-3 win over the San Francisco Giants, while eight runs inside the opening two innings was the platform for the Pittsburgh Pirates to beat the Washington National 10-2.
The Cincinnati Reds beat the Cleveland Indians 7-5, the Baltimore Orioles defeated the Atlanta Braves 5-4, the Tampa Bay Rays were 8-3 victors over the St Louis Cardinals and the Boston Red Sox were 2-1 winners over the Houston Astros.
The Minnesota Twins downed the Milwaukee Brewers 9-7, the Chicago Cubs were 3-1 winners over the Chicago White Sox and the Seattle Mariners ran out 3-1 victors against the San Diego Padres.
