Brazil expected to crush Venezuela
Mano Menezes will expect his Brazilian squad to easily beat Venezuela to kick-off their 2011 Copa America campaign.
The Selecao have been rebuilding after a disappointing 2010 World Cup campaign in South Africa after crashing out in the quarter-finals to Holland, sacking Dunga and replacing him with Menezes. The wily tactician has acceded to the Brazilian fans by bringing in young stars Ganso and Neymar into the squad, and this competition will serve also a showcase for the many clubs coveting the 19-year-old's signature, including Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester City.
Venezuela, ranked 68th in the world rankings, should be easy fodder on paper in their Group B clash, and have not had a good time in the competition in recent years.
Brazil will be looking to win the competition for a consecutive third time, and will look to reinforce their dominance in the competition against their lowly opponents to seize the initiative, especially with their arch-rivals Argentina only managing a scrappy 1-1 draw in their opener against Bolivia.
This match will also have emotional significance for Selecao captain Lucio, who is set to win a century of caps in this fixture, becoming the fourth most capped player in Brazil's history.
