Ferguson not giving up on Sanchez

Ferguson not giving up on Sanchez
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is holding on to the hope of signing Udinese winger Alexis Sanchez.
The highly coveted Chilean has been arguably the most talked about player in the summer transfer window, with Barcelona, Manchester City, Chelsea and United all vying for his prized signature.
But with the three English giants reportedly dropping out of the race for the 24-year-old, it has left the path clear for Barcelona to land Sanchez.
However, according to The Daily Mirror, United remains quietly confident of capturing Sanchez to Old Trafford come the start of the new season.
The English champions, who were beaten to the Champions League crown by Barcelona, are hoping to get one over the Catalan giants by pipping them to the signing of Sanchez.
That however, is highly dependent on whether Barcelona land long-time target Cesc Fabregas as they would not be able to afford two big signings due to their financial constraints this summer.
The European champions have submitted their final bid of £24m plus an extra £10m in appearances, while United have reportedly tabled a much better offer than their Spanish counterparts.
But trying to convince Sanchez to make a move to Old Trafford remains the biggest barrier for Ferguson, whose argument is that he would be a regular starter at United rather than a squad man at the Nou Camp.
