Ishant outscores Kapil Dev in Barbados
India may have lost an opportunity to win a Test in Barbados but speedster Ishant Sharma entered record books with his ten wicket haul.
Statistical Highlights of Barbados Test- Ishant Sharma (10/108) has become the first Indian bowler to claim ten wickets in a Test match in the Caribbean, outstripping Kapil Dev's figures of 8 for 118 at Kensington in February 1983.
- Ishant has produced his career best figures in a Test match, obliterating the 7 for 58 against New Zealand at Nagpur in November 2010.
- Ishant is the fifth Indian bowler to capture ten wickets in a Test match against the West Indies, joining Narendra Hirwani, Bhagwat Chandrasekhar, Kapil Dev and Subhash Gupte.
- On his Test debut, Hirwani had claimed 16 wickets for 136 runs in the 1987-88 Chennai Test against the West Indies - the best figures by any bowler in a Test match against the West Indies.
- Ishant is the third bowler to bag ten wickets in a Test match against the West Indies at Bridgetown, joining Andre Nel (South Africa - 10 for 88 in April 2005) and Greville Stevens (England - 10 for 195 in January 1930).
