PCB: Afridi won't lead Pakistan again

PCB: Afridi won't lead Pakistan again
The Pakistan Cricket Board chief, Ijaz Butt, says World Cup captain Shahid Afridi will not lead Pakistan in future.
Ijaz Butt reinstated on Thursday to Geo TV that it is his constitutional right to name a captain before every series. However, the ICC has recommended to the PCB that Butt should forego the prerogative in order to make the team better.

Afridi was pulled down as skipper by chairman Butt in May after beating West Indies in the Caribbean. This led to his international retirement and an outburst against Butt and the PCB for making captaincy an issue this year.

Afridi dragged the Board to Court so that he is cleared to play overseas. However, he dropped the case after agreeing to meet Butt and pleaded guilty to misconduct and a fine of 4.5 million rupees (US$ 52,000).

Butt says a former provincial governor and former prime minister rang him to urge clearance be given to Afridi, but he says he wasn't pressured.
