MLB: Fielder lifts NL to All-Star win

MLB: Fielder lifts NL to All-Star win

Milwaukee Brewers slugger Prince Fielder hit a three-run homer as the National League beat the American League 5-1 at Chase Field in the 82nd All-Star Game.
The victory ensured back-to-back All-Star triumphs for the NL for the first time in 15 years and earned them home-field advantage in the 2011 World Series.
Boston Red Sox's Adrian Gonzalez, runner-up to Robinson Cano in Monday night's Home Run Derby, homered off Cliff Lee in the fourth inning to give the AL a 1-0 lead.
But the NL responded in style. Carlos Beltran and Matt Kemp hit singles before Fielder became the first Brewer to record an All-Star home run. He connected off CJ Wilson in the bottom of the fourth, smashing a cutter over the wall in left-centre to give the NL a 3-1 advantage.
The NL added a fourth run in the fifth inning through Andre Ethier and an insurance run in the seventh courtesy of Pablo Sandoval in front of a crowd of 47,994.
"It's real cool," Fielder said after picking up the 2011 All-Star MVP award.
"I'm just happy I was able to be here, glad my kids are here with me too and my wife. It's been a great time."
